PROJECT: Sheltered Apartments for BME Community

SUMMARY: Westcliff House, a Grade 2* Listed Building was Preston’s most At Risk Listed Building, having stood unused and dilapidated for many years. Triangle converted and extended the existing buildings to provide 22 flats for a very specific local client group: Preston’s Gujerati community. Working closely with both the Gujerati elders and Preston’s Conservation Officer, flats were designed within the restored listed building and in a bespoke newbuild extension, the two linked by a secure courtyard garden and gated off-street parking. All flats incorporate two living spaces to address the cultural priorities of the Client group, allowing men and women to meet in separate rooms.

SERVICES: Full architectural services from inception to planning consent for GPHG. Pre-planning services included extensive consultation with the Gujerati community and Preston’s Conservation Officer, as well as the local Fire Service.
