PROJECT: Over-cladding and External Improvements to Existing Stock

SUMMARY: Overcladding of almost 1000 inter-war, system built houses to improve thermal performance and long-term sustainability and, at the same time, radically upgrade external appearance. In addition, external boundaries and spaces were improved and extensive in-curtilage car-parking was provided.

Several different facade design solutions were employed, all incorporating an external insulation system, over which a series of decorative finishes was applied, ranging from white render to brick slips. These included glazed and stack-bonded patterns and careful design studies enabled us to create a coherent design strategy across all properties, achieving a more contemporary appearance and introducing a sense of local place and identity within the wider area.

SERVICES: Full architectural services for Southway from inception to planning approval. All  construction drawings for the contractor at post-contract stage.

Pre-planning work by Triangle also included option appraisals and masterplanning.
