Description
Triangle were appointed through a bid process in collaboration with Great Places Housing Group and Rowlinson Construction. Triangle have undertaken numerous consultations and co-production with the LGBTQ+ community and with the wider community to develop proposals that will enhance the local environment and also the lives of the people within the scheme and those that surround it. .
Billed as a 'first of its kind' development, the independent living scheme currently consists of 80 self-contained apartments, a mix of 1 and 2-bed. The scheme will be low-carbon and include shared facilities, lounges and treatment rooms and landscaped gardens. It achieved planning permission in September 2024.
The site also includes a separate shared ownership block consisting of approximately 40 apartments, a mix of 1 and 2 bed. This will deliver much needed affordable housing for first time buyers and the community and is expected to start-on-site in Summer 2025.
Sir Ian McKellen who visited the site recently and who is an LGBT Foundation patron said it will provide a 'safe and welcoming environment' and that 'it's wonderful to see Manchester leading the way again'.
